About Us

aesWatch.Org is the Citizens Election Monitor put up by AES Watch for the purpose of collecting from volunteers and all reports on the progress of the first ever nationwide automated polls in the Philippines.

The website will be openly accessible and will display a map of the Philippines on which are overlaid the locations of voting precincts and canvassing centers. Citizens on the ground will send in reports on incidents in and around these locations via SMS, email or web. The incidents will be recorded by location and can be visualized on the map.

By accessing the website, stakeholders (election officials, concerned citizens’ groups, peace-keeping forces, and the public in general) will be alerted accordingly and can take appropriate actions as necessary. The reported incidents may include, among others, actions taken by election officials in preparing and conducting the voting process; problems with the voting machines, canvassing machines or election paraphernalia; acts of violence; etc.

The website will also serve as a platform for aggregating election-related news from mainstream media and citizen journalists and groups.

The Automated Election System Watch (“AES Watch”) is a voluntary, independent and nonpartisan aggrupation of concerned groups and individuals monitoring the 2010 elections in the Philippines.

The information here is mapped in near real time and gathered from reports via:
